A popular choice around the globe, the Toyota Corolla is poised to remain so for 2020. The redesigned interior is sensuous minimalism with a balance of upscale finishes without being flashy while the exterior is longer, lower and wider giving it a sportier look. This sedan has three model lines, the L, the S and the first ever Hybrid model that all offer lots of choice. The L and Hybrid models are powered by a 1.8L, 4 cylinder engine that produces 139 hp and the S models are powered by a 2L, 4 cylinder engine that produces 169 hp. With the Hybrid, there is never the need to plug in the vehicle as it recharges itself on the go thanks to Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD). It is a system where, when the gas engine is running it drives a generator which in turn charges the battery. HSD also includes a feature called Regenerative Braking that also helps to recharge the battery. Via a motor, it works by capturing some of the energy used for braking and transforming that energy into electricity which is then stored in the battery. The Corolla is even more efficient because it is built on TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) which is a concept of total optimization where key advancements include transforming and streamlining the manufacturing process as well as improving the car’s core components. It is a process that helps to keep the price of new cars down and it also helps to make cars handle better with better fuel economy.
